In 1934 Vitorino Cardoso and Mavilde Moreira Lopes purchased Corga da Chã estate where for more than 50 years they produced wine, olive oil, cereals and wood.
In the early 90s António Cardoso Gomes completely restructured the vineyard, selecting the most appropriate soils and growing the recommended varietal grapes. The first wines were considered to be of high quality.
The Corga da Chã brand was only launched in 2005 when Maria do Carmo Tavares da Costa and her six children decided to equip the wine cellar with the required technology to control fermentation.
Engineer Jorge Sousa Pinto became responsible for enology and the A2V company provided modern vinification, bottling and labelling technologies.
The high quality of Corga da Chã wines was validated in the 2007 CVRVV contest where they were awarded the Verde Gold prize with Arinto and Verde Silver prize with Trajadura. They were also considered “Best Buy” by the Revista de Vinhos magazine and “Good Buy” by the Blue Wine magazine. In 2008 Trajadura received the Verde Gold prize and Arinto the Verde Honor prize at the same contest.
Corga da Chã’s motto is to produce high quality wines every year. The prizes and good references by specialized critics give us the motivation to keep up the good work.
